Ed - what can I say? That was fantastic - the passages you have found will be of such great use (there were a couple of lovely multiple bird quotes in there which will sit really nicely in the introduction I've been planning).

I won't want to be a nuisance to you, but obviously if I get stuck at some later juncture I may have to call on your services again! If anything comes of the book (and I'm tempted to believe it might) I'll acknowledge your assistance and magic search engine!!!

If anybody is interested in the Swallows and Amazons Bird Book, I do now have some sample pages to tout around publishers and I'd obviously appreciate comments/criticism, etc. I don't think I'll just stick the pages up here for people to look at generally, partly because it would be a big file (it includes my mum's watercolour paintings) and also because it isn't ripe enough to be in the public domain. It could be a nuisance emailing too many attachments of the pages to too many people, but if you have a strong interest in the birds of AR books, or if you are/have contact with a) a publisher (!!), b) another potentially interested body (ie. RSPB, Lake District/Norfolk Broads authorities, etc.) or something else I can't think of (!!!) I'd be pleased to pass it round. The book will include AR quotations and sketches, so obviously if I find a publisher the various rights, royalties and other related issues will have to be resolved.

Anyway, thanks again, Ed. You've saved me hours (although, luckily there are far too many possible birds to search for for me to send them all your way, so I've still got a good excuse to read all the books again!!!)

Cheers,

Duncan
