Sea Bear was based on the Norwegian yacht and ex-pilot ship Teddy
owned by Erling tambs. If you look at a photo of the original she compares well with the sketches in GN. AR stuck crostrees on her, so the Ss and As could spy on the dactyl.
The Cruise of the Teddy is a great yarn; the best bit is where they are ship wrecked and the skipoper says to the toddler kid, "You hold the baby on this wavewashed rock while I go and rescue mummy"
