After many years of "Broadland" cruising in hired yachts, gaff of course, a shortage of willing crews led to the hiring of a timber hulled motor cruiser. The type of holiday changed totally, from sailing for the sake of it to the pleasure of "Exploring" the Broads as a whole. It is so much easier to PARK up for a few minutes look at a church or whatever.
A Gunter rigged dinghy provided the required sailing. Home restored, an ancient Gull she sails under the name Titmouse.
Twenty plus holidays on, and I succumbed. I finaly bought a boat of my own. As I live 200 miles away and can only visit every other weekend at the most, Lady Annya is a "tupperware lunch bucket" but has provided much fun pottering around the rivers Bure, Ant, Thurne and Waveney. Have a thought for us obligate "Hullabaloos".
By the way, the TARs burgee raised some comment over the summer and a few fellow members spotted it too.
The Yard that erstwhile provided me with crusers, yachts and Margoletta look alikes is Martham Boat Building and Development Co (MDDC), very helpful and friendly. Have a look at their site. I pass it on as a very satisfied customer...
