As to accents. It's not a matter of "working hard to keep the local accent". The key factor is the GA, who would have made certain that Mary and Jim Turner "talked proper".
With the home influence, Nancy's natural accent will be RP. And I don't see Nancy going for the reverse snobbery of affecting a working class accent.
