Having given those ages I found written down, I thought maybe i should give the ages that I've always seen them as being in the first book, for the otehr characters, these are the ages I think tahy would be in summer 1929,
Swallows:
John 12y1m
Susan 10y8m
Titty 9y~6m
Roger 7y~m
Bridget 1y11m to 2
Amazons:
Nancy 12y3~4m
Peggy 11y2m
Scarabs/Ds:
Dorothea ~10y3m
Dick ~9y
Coots:
Tom ~11y
P&S ~10y6m
Joe ~9y }All in the
Bill ~8y6m }same class
Pete ~8y }at school
Eels:
Don ~12-13y
Daisy ~11-12y
Dum&Dee ~9-11 (I know that they are not twins but I think that they are probably quite close in age.)
From this you will see that I think that Dot, is about the same age as the Mates, though see tends to associate with the younger set. I do think that Peggy was probably older than Susan, Its not that unusual I think for some children to mature more quickly, especially if they have to look after younger siblings (not that Susan had to , I expect she probably just took it upon herself to do so) I expect the twins were just a little younger than Tom (not nearly as small as the characters in teh BBC series)
