It's simple really. Place names get shortened in the local dialect,

So Gloucester is pronounced 'Gloster'

Lowestoft (where I live) is Lustft.

Happisburgh (in North Norfolk) is 'Hazebro'

Cirencester is 'Cissiter'

And so on.

I can't believe this doesn't happen in other countries.
