So it was when the Swallows visited it in Chapter XXIV.

So in fact was Flint Island last Sunday.

But where else on the water in the south east of England could you have spent the entire August Bank Holiday weekend in utter seclusion?

Whatever the faults of the Eels they were based on real children. I'm a little surprised that they don't get the exposure that other identifiable characters in the stories have received.
