They are sunken barges, or more precisely lighters, of the sort that used to work the tidal Thames and Medway.

The North East corner of Horsey Island is facing increased erosion. A combination of higher sea levels, greater
tidal scour, less protection from a much reduced Stone Point (Flint Island), would appear to be the principal
factors at work.
