From Wikipedia: The Noble was first minted as a gold coin worth 6/8d in 1344.
It was revalued to 8/4d (100d) in 1464 due to the rise in the value of gold and the Rose Noble worth 10/- was introduced. However, both seem to have been discontinued in 1470.
The Angel worth 6/8d was introduced in 1465 to replace the Noble. Its value varied from 6/8d to 11/- (during the reign of James 1) and was eventually phased out when the guinea was introduced under Charles II.
