Referring to the 1974 film of S&A, I've always thought that Ronald Fraser (not Robert Hardy of course, which I'm sure was just a slip of the tongue) was quite a good choice for Captain Flint -- I'm never clear why his casting (or acting?) seems to attract so much opprobrium.
I don't think Fraser could be taken for a Dutchman. And in my mind's eye, Capn Flint is more like Peter Vaughan than Ronald Fraser.
