There is a reference to their full names in Hugh Brogan's "Life" regarding AR's notes when working on CC - in my Pimlico edition, P336.
Regarding Ratty, sorry, all; I was having a senior moment. I can't find any reference to a rodent name, so this was a bit of a "Red Herring" - I think Roger's suggestion is the best one.
