The Arthur Ransome Trust is indeed very interested in the situation at Lanehead, and my earlier post was made on behalf of the Trust (of which I am one of the trustees). One could not imagine a more ideal site for a Ransome Centre. The decision to sell Lanehead was unexpected, and the Trust is still at an early stage in its development, but Lanehead is so important to AR devotees that, against the odds, we decided to try to see if there was a way to raise the necessary finance. It is a huge amount to raise, and time is against us, but Grab a Chance . . .
The Arthur Ransome Trust (ART) is a registered charity and a separate organisation from TARS. TARS may also be interested in Lanehead but like ART their problem would be raising such a large sum quickly and their activity programme has not so far included acquiring land. ART does have one or two ideas but, as I said, if anyone out there knows of an individual or funding body that might just help, please let me know.
