For those who have not heard Ransome speak, it can be a surprising experience. After years of only seeing black & white photos I stumbled across a radio recording. I was genuinely moved by the experience.
I foolishly assumed he would have some sort of Leeds accent. Oh no! This man would make the Queen sound like she came from the gutter. Amazing!
Whilst there are a handful of short video clips of AR here and there (some on the Internet) they are all silent. However, the BBC do have radio recordings in their archive, and you can hear AR read 'The Soldier and Death' and a lecture on fishing too. Does anyone know if there are more? I think the TARS library might have something?
