I think that AR is one of the most consistent and furious anti-Imperialist writers of his era.
I wasn't thinking of AR's personal attitude, but of the general awareness of the nature of our society. For a long time there was a genuine belief that the Empire was a force for good. This was because people don't like to think that they are supporting violence and coercion of other peoples, and a sustained propaganda effort that supported the Empire. Those beliefs still seem to survive. To me they appear to be pernicious.
