Well worth watching Lakeland Cam, as it was about this time of year that the Swallows would have arrived in the Lakes for their summer holidays.
Whilst much of the “native life” would have changed, the trees and fields would still have been much the same colouration as would many of the wild flowers, birds and small mammals.
Obviously the elms have gone, crop varieties and harvesting methods changed and there are now many more conifers, but there would still be the same timeless feel to parts of the district.
Perhaps for PP they would have arrived a week earlier and this would have tied in with the unexpected spell of hot dry sunny weather in England this year.
