Robert's Hirondelle lives/lived in the boathouse next to that on the north side. I saw her there in 2009, prior to the refurbishment of the Lanehead boathouse that's for sale (which is the centre one in the picture).
If you're walking down Roger's field and along the narrow paths between the boathouses, look out for all the cobwebs that simply coat the stone walls -- if you're not very careful you'll emerge on the water's edge looking like Spiderman.
Not only is the landward access to the boathouse narrow, as Peter says, it's also at sail-loft level, so there's no taking a boat to the boathouse overland even if you wanted to try the circuitous route -- you have to launch elsewhere and get there by water. Given that the access is so restricted, it will be interesting to see what the boathouse finally sells for. I would think £150K would build a pretty good creation from scratch, but I suppose the problem would be finding the land to build it on.
