Duncan makes a good point in that Beckfoot emerges book by book and only in PM is it, "The loveliest place in all the world."
That of course is a reference to Dorothea's thoughts in the last-but-one sentence of chapter 2. In all the times I've read that I never thought it referred to Beckfoot specifically, just to the lake and its surroundings.
