Dave - I can well appreciate the technical issues you are faced with (and the costs), but there is something about the way TarBoard works in comparison with other 'off the shelf' forums that makes it special (and suits the subject matter.)
I realise of course that some of that view is because of familiarity and reluctance to change, perhaps the answer is (and it sounds as if you are all looking at that) to have a more up-to-date system behind the front-end we are all used to.
I'm sure I'm not alone in appreciating the efforts you all go to in maintaining the site, it does allow proper discussion (and sometimes disagreement!) about a subject we take a great interest in.
