There's an excellent set of photographs illustrating a recent trip to Slater Bob's mine (Tilberthwaite Deep Level Adit aka. Horse Crag Level) on darkplaces.co.uk here:

After some photographs of the Moss Head slate workings near the top of the Old Man of Coniston (ignored by AR in SD) and the Deep Adit Level near the Youth Hostel, the trip to Slater's Bob's mine starts with the text, On another trip, I had a wander around some of the lower Tilberthwaite region, a couple of miles from Coniston.

The usual warnings. Exploring old mines can be dangerous. Rock falls can be fatal. Some of the Coniston Coppermines have treacherous false floors and deep shafts covered by a few inches of water. It's safest to go with an experienced guide. If you have never done anything like this before, participating in an on-line forum like darkplaces.co.uk and joining in some 'beginners level' trips, is an excellent place to start.
