1. To old to worry bout that crap anymore - plus all the work I do on the accelerometers is GMT
2. Those little craft are so much better without stays. Awful nuisance with a lug sail
3. I have been rigging boats since I was 12, about John's age, usually a group of kids work together to step the mast, many hands make light work
4. One must remember these are works of fiction, no one in their right mind is going to let a 7 year old have a pocket knife.
