I agree Roger - and of course Swallows and Amazons has already been done... When they were talking about making several films, making SA first made complete sense; but if somebody's just going to make one stand-alone film based on an AR book, I think there would be a strong argument for going for one which hasn't already been done. If a Lakes book, Winter Holiday or Pigeon Post offer the most intriguing possibilities for the big screen. I'd love somebody to do WDMTGTS and SW as a pair, whether as films or like the 80s CC and BS. I can't help feeling there's more mileage to make something wholly satisfying with some of those options, unless the aim is to make a series of films with the same actors, in which case SA is a sensible place to start. I think I read somewhere they fancied following up with Peter Duck, which was an intriguing thought...
