Isn't Swallowdale set in the summer? It wouldn't be dark enough to see stars until after 10pm, right? Susan wouldn't let anyone stay up that late. Not when they're going to be woken at dawn by sun through the tent walls every day.

(Ed: Anyone living in Kentucky, USA surely has a shorter drive to find somewhere free of light pollution, than we do in the UK.....?!)
