It's worrying me a bit... I can't see the point of the date change other than to bring some Second World War-related plot into the story, and the trouble with that is that it's grown-ups worrying about grown-up matters and therefore not really much to do with Swallows and Amazons. (It also worries me that maybe that plot angle is going to be the odd "spy" stuff we saw in some audition show reels...)
Of course it's going to be a bit different from the book in certain ways. Captain Flint being a tad more dashing (and I suspect we might get a "hot" Mother) is perhaps to be expected, and a few things will get cut out (like the storm from the 74 film) but I see NO point in adding stuff. Hmmm...
