It's only "wrong" in the design of the cabin. The original version had a high ceiling, with two large portholes between it and the pictures, and a single joist visible with parallel planking.
It was altered to be lower, and with smaller portholes, and in particular three joists, and the planks now at right angles to the joists. Perhaps someone told AR the planks would collapse if they didn't go across the joist.
Also the whole viewpoint became closer to the desk. In the early version, Dick (who wears his spectacles in both) stands in front of a second bookcase, but in the Cape published picture, he is right at the edge of the picture, and not completely visible.
