For heaven's sake, no one gets mixed up over 'Blackett' or Swainson'. People who spell it 'Owden' give away the fact that they have never read the books, or at least haven't read Ransome for donkey's years (donkey being the operative word).
It is obvious that George Owdon is not (for want of a better description) Norfolk working class, because AR took care to give him no dialect. His scornful remarks strike me as typical minor public school phraseology.
