I don't know the area well myself, but have you read Christina Hardyment's "Arthur Ransome and Captain Flint's Trunk"? This was pretty much the first "tour of AR's places" sort of books (Roger Wardale's first might have just preceded it) and she covers the Broads and Secret Water as well as the Lakes. It doesn't perhaps go into quite the detail of naming possible locations for different places that some books now do, but is certainly an interesting read.
