The oddity as to the different spelling of DOGS'/DOG'S home makes me wonder: it is different in the two maps from the spelling in the text itself. Does this possibly suggest that the maps were done by someone else? And crediting "NB" in the lower right corner is not what I mean; I'm referring to a REAL someone else. It is a detail that the artist might not have been fully aware of, and so made the trivial mistake. If someELSE actually did those map drawings, then the inconsistency is not that of AR.
