I was just re-reading the introduction that AR wrote to John MacGregor's "The voyage alone in the yawl Rob Roy" as reprinted in "Ransome on Blue Water Sailing". AR mentions (at p57) that Rob Roy was sold in 1871 "to a man in Australia and [JM]was presently writing in his journal that he had 'heard grand accounts of arrival of dear old yawl in Melbourne'".

I wondered if anyone (particularly one of our Melburnian AusTARS) has any information on the Australian life of this boat? Perhaps back issues of the Melbourne newspapers of 1871 and 1872 might yield some useful info?
