Most philosophy sounds trite when encapsulated in a few words. Personally I think Ellen's is probably something like 'Grab a chance and you won't be sorry for a might-have-been.' Whatever Ellen's philosophy she has certainly inspired quite a few kids, especially girls and some from 'poor' backgrounds to have a go at the sport through Sea Scouts or whatever. Certainly the kids I deal with are all sorry she had this disaster but look forward with confidence to her next adventure.
