I've just been getting caught up with my TarBoard reading and really
enjoyed the enthusiastic letters from Mary and the welcoming response
to them. In fact, it finally prodded me to contribute.

Mary, in your comments regarding the "Mary" connection in the novels,
you stated that Mary is "rather un-piratical", and you are right. So,
if you'd rather your name sounded like more of a pirate one to go with
your new found love of Ransome, I have a suggestion. Think of it as Merry!

In writing, it looks less ordinary than Mary although it sounds the same,
it goes well with your enthusiasm, and it WAS a pirate name in Treasure Island,
(George Merry), although it was a man's last name.

It also offers the fun of being someone else inside and to your new
Ransomish friends while appearing to remain the same to everyone else.

Swallows and Amazons Forever!

Mark
