While there are 1½-2 year gaps between John, Susan, Titty & Roger there is a gap of c5 years before Bridget came along! Any connection with Commodore Walker’s posting to Hong Kong or somewhere else far from home? He must have got regular home leave!
PS: saw a saying in captivity from some WWII prisoners of the Japanese that the second thing they would do when they got home was to take their pack off! One way of keeping their spirits up.
