Whether or not they are product placements, AR was an Old Rugbeian or whatever they call themselves. So perhaps it was more a tip of the hat to his old alma mater. As for Oxford and Cambridge he played pretty fair with Missee Lee's support for the Light Blues counterbalancing Jim Brady and Frank Cooper.
However as a graduate of Leeds University, I approve of AR's connections to my alma mater which is never mentioned in the books
