The only other change is to the unamed (in SW) Walton on the Naze which is a more run-down seadside resort than it ever was!

Oh yes. Those terminally run down British seaside places (which never quite totally implode) are one of the attractions of the coastline. Another one quite near by is at Jaywick Sands, on the coast south west of Walton. There, hard behind the sea wall, is a grid pattern of sandy streets, all named after now extinct British motor cars (Jowett Road, Alvis Avenue) lined by extraordinary Jerry-built huts which were put up at a time before planning permission was required, styled and decorated brilliantly by their inhabitants who were definitely not architects. It was 'discovered' and made famous by the photographer Tim Street Porter, but when I last saw it it was deliquescing into the sand. The central square looked like a Wild West relic, all peeling clapboard and boardwalks. It lacked even the residual candyfloss flash of Walton.

I just looked on the map. All the names are there except Jowett Road- but I know I've seen it. Maybe it's been swept away since I was there.
