There is no objection in principle, I would have thought, to holding an overseas TARS AGM one day, provided the membership agree to paying the travelling costs of the principal TARS Officers who will need to attend.

Three points on your posting Peter;

1. as there is no requirement for the principal TARS officers to attend an AGM the matter of travelling costs does not arise.

2. at normal National Committee or Board Meetings travelling costs, but not subsistence costs were claimed on an individual basis. At one time, before incorporation, Malcolm Temple, as Treasurer, introduced a scheme whereby National Committee Members who felt they could afford not to claim such expenses provided a Declined Expenses Sheet which was entered to enable the Treasurer to assess the true figure of running the Society.

3. The single exception to the expenses rule was when a National Committee or Board Meeting coincided with the AGM, when it was felt inapropriate to claim expenses because one would probably attend the AGM anyway.
