Has anyone ever heard of Ransome being challenged or banned from schools or libraries? As ridiculous as it may sound, as I look at a list of other books that have been banned or challenged, many of the reasons could also be applied to Ransome. For example:
+ Insensitivity (just look at how Nancy treats people)
+ Anti-family/teaching children disobedience
+ Offensive language (one again, I'm thinking of Nancy here)
+ Violence

The most likely reason to ban these books would be for teaching children to have their own mind and follow their own ideas. What we all view as play/imagination/growth could, by some stretch of reality, be misinterpreted as encouraging disobedience and violance.

Believe it or not, less offensive books have been banned, and that's why I'm wondering about these.
