Nor do I drink mainstream North American beers. Fortunately we have a lot of good microbreweries in Northern California, including two or three really outstanding ones here in Humboldt County (Alan Hakim will confirm). There is a use for mainstream American beer though -- a way to deal with snails and slugs is to put out a plate of beer, which they will invade and then drown in. I've found that decent beer and ale won't work though - they prefer Bud/Miller/Coors. There's a moral in here somewhere!
