The chief trouble with Canadian TV, IMHO, is that it takes itself so terribly seriously. It conveys the subtle view that without the government to protect us and to tell us what to do, we should all be in the soup. I have noticed that somewhere in the last news at night there is usually embedded a grim story to get us all worried. The implication is that only the Great White Government can help us. This is what comes of living in a socialist state, although it pretends it isn't.

I agree, the History Channel and A&E are pretty watchable, and of course, although I may hear groans, the programs from the BBC. At least, they tower above the usual North American fare.

I never drink mainstream Canadian or American beer (and I use the word mainstream advisedly). Local micro-breweries offer a pretty good product, and of course there's always GUINNESS.
Cheers!

John
