'Mr and Mrs Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much. So normal indeed that, after some hesitation they agreed to take in the son of Mrs Dursely's sister after he was orphaned, even though they knew he, as a wizard, miust be educated (expensively) at Horwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Even if it meant their own son Dudley would have to leave school and stack supermarket shelves to help pay the fees.'

'Listen,' he said. 'Trees. I can hear the wind in them. What's that?' He flashed his torch over the side. There was a white splash of water breaking on a rock. With a rending crash the prow of the boat ran up onto it, spun around and tipped. The mast broke off above the thwart and fell across the stern cutting the boat in two and covering everyone with the sail.'
