No, I was saying that implicit to the practice of being 'reserved' is the notion that you should respect other people's right to be disengaged. This is called being 'considerate'. Any behaviour that disturbs this peace or reserve can, therefore, be construed as inconsiderate.
In reality; however, when I lived in London I had a toddler and can remember being helped carry his push-chair up the stairs of a central London Underground station by a stranger. Question is do I remember this because it was so unusual or because it was the norm?
