I've been re-reading "The Big Six" and I thought (as I did when I read it as a child) that GO gets away with it to an extent the Coots wouldn't have done. At the point the Six go to Mr. Farland's with their evidence, they are about to be summonsed for casting off boats - but GO and Ralph Strakey don't seem to be prosecuted for the castings off, attempting to pervert the course of justice, whatever the current offence of criminal damage was then (on the Death and GLory), common assault (when they break into the boat) etc etc. Mr. Farland indicates they won't be, and in the PS we're just told they "went away".

Any ideas why GO was allowed to get away with it?
