The Secret harbour is quite obvious really and fairly easy to get into between the rocks, though sometimes crowded with others.

I didn't see any Leading lights or markers.

There is a small beach on the east side facing the shore but it has a steep bank up to the central rise of the island rather than the gentle slope shown in the early chapters of Swallowdale.

I know that I was told that the eastern side of the island was shallow but I am not sure how shallow. You could probably wade/swim across easily as it is not very far.

I think that the water level of Coniston is controlled by a weir or some such so it doesn't vary much, but again that is what I think I recall, not know for certain.
