Just thought I should mention that Dorita Fairlie Bruce wrote a whole series about Nancy at school (some of them still in print with Girls Gone By):

Nancy to the Rescue
The New Girl and Nancy (Dorothea goes to St Bride's)
Nancy in the Sixth
Nancy at St Bride's
The Best Bat in the School (or no pets at St Bride's)

As for the Philip Larkin, the school stories are in places dodgy, in places a bid sad, and not really like the real thing, but there is a splendid poem about the school in August:

... And seniors grow tomorrow
From the juniors today,
And even swimming groups can fade,
Games mistresses turn grey.
