Never been to the Lake District, so have never seen the place first hand, but I have been collecting the Tony Richards photos from the LAKELANDCAM.CO.UK for several years, and from them have gotten at least some idea of how that place looks.

I was watching Harry Potter on a DVD here with my grandson, and the exterior scenes showing the Hogwarts school seem to have a background that looks like Lake Coniston. Of course, the school itself is just art work, as such does not exist at that lake, but the rest of the picture sure does look like some of the scenery that is very similar to those photos I have been collecting from Tony.

I was wondering if that Harry Potter movie was actually made in the Lake District to make use of those areas as part of the scenery.

There is also a train that is running to Hogwarts, and I was wondering if that train actually exists for real and they photographed the real thing, or did they do that with computerized art work as well.

It does add another dimension of enjoyment when watching that movie to keep looking at the background, in hopes of spotting something familiar.

Don't know if any of the followers of this forum are that much acquainted with the inside story on the making of Harry Potter movies, but you never know...

Too bad Hogwarts School is not REALLY there somewhere. Wouldn't that be quite a sight to attract the tourist trade.

Just wondering...
