Hmm, food for thought, but I don't think you will find any evidence that Beckfoot belonged to the Turner family. The family was local, certainly, but could have lived elsewhere round the lake. There is circumstantial evidence for Turner ownership in the fact that Jim Turner had a study/chem lab at Beckfoot. It seems to have been there for some time (going by clues in PP) and would surely have been there while Bob Blackett was alive. On the other hand it would seem quite reasonable, Beckfoot being a fairly big house, for Bob B to give his brother-in-law use of a room, bearing in mind that Jim was away a lot and his only pied-a-terre in the UK (as far as we know) was the houseboat. They may have shared use of the room. I still maintain that the house was Blackett-owned - I can just imagine Mollie, just before she married, saying to her husband-to-be - there's a lovely house by the lake I've always dreamed of living in and it's for sale! Pure conjecture, of course, on my part, but by gum, this is a welcome change from all the recent TARS AGM wrangles isn't it?
