In PM when the D’s get the rabbit from Jacky, Nancy is impressed and said “lets live off the land, not on food out of tins like we get from Susan”. That is, apart from the fish they catch in SD and PM. She is not very appreciative of Susan’s cooking work with canned food! Plus non-perishables eg cereals (Force), potatoes and apples.

I suppose that houses would have a safe in/near the kitchen; sheltered from the sun, ventilated and protected from flies. And the butcher would deliver meat every day or two (the one who picked up the GA in PM). If the farmers killed a sheep for their own use, they would have to keep the meat for several days.
