That's as maybe. But murder is quite different; it seems to me to be more terminal than other violent crime, and a lot more frightening. And gun murder stats for Florida (and the rest of the USA) are grotesquely out of line with those in the civilised world.

I've read plenty about this theory of an armed populace reducing crime. Well, if people vote to go back to the dark days of Tombstone, that's their business. It seems sad to me that the USA is regressing to the rule of violence as opposed to the rule of law. I much prefer order and decency achieved by reducing the number of guns. It seems to work a lot better.
