In PM Dick looks at his watch several times, eg Chapter 14, 28, 30 (hb pages 134, 282, 297). In Chapter 7 he is timing the eggs with his watch when he hears a woodpecker and forgets about the eggs:
“.... he moved quietly, watch in hand, to the doorway”
This suggests a pocket rather than a wrist watch, although he may have taken off a wrist watch if he was studying the time closely?
