I concur with Joy. Cats may say "I'm awake so I'll be difficult", whether that involves not wanting what you offer them to eat (even though it was just fine this morning), climbing the drapes, sharpening claws on the furniture, . . . I've never met a Lab who didn't think that if it didn't move, and was small enough to pick up, you either ate it or asked someone to throw it for retrieval. And my sister and her husband breed them, so I've had that opportunity.
