I finished reading the latest MM after breakfast. One of the stories authors recounts a tale as a young school boy seeing a sailing boat on Windermere during WW2. The author thinks the boat was Scarab. He saw Scarab capsize, but presumably not sink. Amazon and Scarab are noted as being identical, so we reach the conclusion that Amazon would float after a capsize. The author did not see AR, but I fail to see how anyone who borrowed Scarab and returned wetishly cold would not recount the tale of woe.

The difference in density of lead to wrought iron is 11.34 to 7.68 so lead is hell of lot heavy per litre. I need to do some calculations. Has anyone ever seen the size of the lead weights used in these boats?

What type of timber would have been used for Swallow?
