The original prices of the S&A books in England was 7 shillings and 6 pence (7/6d), or 3/8th of a pound (£). This is from several English reviews (1933-1940) of childrens’ Christmas books. Many of the other children’s books were less eg 3s 6d, 5s or 6s etc, but were probably much shorter!
